What can I do to help remove all the hair of the dog and the dog smell in my basement?

My two dogs were down on the couch all Eventually, his favorite place. Unfortunately they throw a ton so we set blankets on the sofas and wash every week or so. Even with this, yet there are plenty of hair floating around and the basement smells like dog. What can we do to help control this. It would be one of the cleanest air ionizers-it help? Any something else …? We love our dogs very much and can not banish the word.

hi .. we have cleaner air and room does help some. but even with my own dogs, is a problem. i vacuum and shampoo the carpet on the stairs often. I think the smell is worse since we put carpet down here. I wash everything with water and chlorine but there is the faint smell of dog. there is a product u can buy (I think the pet store? – I do not remember where I bought mine) that is a small bottle called nilodor .. sprinkle 2 or 3 drops when the odor is very strong (as in days of rain). I know that people use in Kitty litter as well.
