Any hints for cleaning silk as an old lamp shade?
I'm thinking soak in a mild solution of Dawn and then leave air dry. But I've never tried to wash a lamp shade before. I cleaned the dust and surface dirt, but it still looks yellow and thanks ……… dirty!
You can not use anything liquid in silk, because that will leave a water stain ton of fabric that can never be eliminated. I clean mine carpet dry cleaning granules. Capture and resolve both make one and do not have enough moisture to leave water rings. Void, the first shadow are not so grinding the dirt into the fabric. Take off the lamp shade, sprinkle on the cleaner, shake the granules with a soft brush, let sit in the area around an hour (you will see the color change), then vacuum it off using a toothbrush. No pun, but sometimes in a hurry you can also use regular salt table for washing dirt from the surface.
