Does changing an air cleaner change performance?
I have a 91 camaro with a stock air cleaner, the kind with the snorkel on it and hose thing leading to the front. I was wanting to replace it with a different one. So does the type of air cleaner change engine performance at all or does it not make a big enough difference.
It can make a huge difference especially if you choose the wrong design. That hose thing is to pull in fresh cold air,which is more dense,instead of the the thin hot “dirty” air from under the hood. There should also be another hose to help with warm-up. It comes off one of the exhaust manifolds until temp rises enough to close the damper in air cleaner switching to frontal cool air. Spend your money elsewhere for better results,like on a date.
