air cleaner washable filter
60K miles, starting to lose MPG?
Hello, I have a Civic 06 with about 60K on the odometer, and recently my gas mileage has begun to fall, so I am probably due for some maintenance, what should I do with it? So far I have given regular oil chage and a washable air filter keep clean. Just as new tires balanced. What next?
Sorry to sound condescending, but: take your car to a mechanic. Than den again, it may be all, some or none of what has been suggested. All I could think generically to take the filter is washable and throw it away and using ordinary filters. Washable filters does not save any gas, but are not as good filtering capability even cheaper than paper filters, and particulate only a few microns in size may begin to erode your engine parts, and shorten engine life. Other than that, just a garage to test things as compression, spark, sensors, etc. is the problem. Unless the problem is on your right foot, in which case only be able to say … Sometimes when people get used to their cars, which tend to drive it harder, which means less MPG.
