For those of you who have ever had new carpet installed …?
How long did the "new carpet smell" last? We had our carpet installed in our living room 2 weeks ago, and there is still a smell. I'm not sure if it's overwhelming, because I'm used to it after a while, but when I leave and return, the smell is still there. I know that new gas out of the carpet "and that's what we're smelling so that is not well … we have the windows open when they are home and also an air purifier that is supposed to remove VOCs and other gases and chemicals from the air … mainly concerned about this because I have a baby and a toddler … but do not seem bothered by it …
I think you're on the right track … ventilate all I can, and maybe sprinkle baking power on the carpet at night and then vacuum the next morning
