As its name implies, air purifiers are designed to keep the air we breathe as free as possible from allergens, dust and other air pollutants transported. There are many different types of air purifiers, some more advanced than others. There is also a distinction between office and home air purifiers.

Air purifiers therefore have two main purposes which, although apparently similar, are not. One is to keep the air clean from germs and microbes and the other is to remove air from allergy-causing agents such as pollen.

Importantly air purifier can not do everything, and some are more suitable for some functions than others. There are three basic technologies used for air purifiers: electrostatic / electronic and mechanical filtration adsorption.

Electrostatic technology uses the principle of positive and negative attraction. As such, electrostatic air purifiers use charged plates that attract pollutants in the air.

Adsorption is the process by which certain smells such as cigarette smoke they leave a room. However, this technology recently in the way of the elimination of small particles such as dust and microbes. Mechanical filtering uses a screen to clear the air of pollen, however, works to clear odors.

There are many different types of air purifiers that use one or the other or even a combination of technologies before mentioned. The most popular types of air purifiers are ozone air purifiers, HEPA filters, ionic air purifiers and air purifiers ultraviolet light.

HEPA filters generally remove more than 99 percent of the particles floating in the air. The main disadvantage of HEPA filters is their inability to eliminate the smell of the air. Ozone and carbon air purifiers are excellent at removing the smell of the air. One of the most effective air purifiers to remove the air of microbes is the index purifier ultraviolet light.

The type of air purifier you buy depends on the purpose for which you desire. If you need both to clear the air and remove mold spores and other contaminants may have to buy two purifiers.
