Air purifiers are essential if we want to improve indoor air quality. Residential air filters first introduced in 1963 by Klaus Hammes. Air cleaners are used to remove a wide variety of contaminants and pollutants from the air we breathe. Air Purifiers ion work by sending billions of ions (electrically charged particles) in a room. Due to their electrical charge, these particles adhere to the pollutants in the air. The charged particles then return to the air purifier and gather there, along with the pollutant that is attached to the ion.

Hepa air purifiers work on the principle of filtration. HEPA stands for "high efficiency particulate absorption" or "high efficiency particulate Arrestance. This type of air filter removes more than 99% of dust, mold, pollen, bacteria and other particles in air. Hepa initially was a trademark, and today has become a generic term for high-efficiency filters. Most people wrongly assume HEPA filters that work much like a sieve, through which particles smaller than the smallest opening in the filter can pass through the filter. This is wrong. HEPA air purifiers work on three different principles of physics. This is the interception, retention, and dissemination. The net result is that particles much smaller than the openings in the filter are trapped and removed from the air.

When using the term ozone air purifier, generally describes an air cleaner that generates ozone to disinfect the air, or elements within a room. However, ionic air purifiers produce ozone as a byproduct of the creation and release of ions in the air. While ozone is a very effective disinfectant, is also considered a pollutant because it has effects harmful on lung function.

Ozone was discovered in 1840 by Christian Schönbein. It has 3 atoms per molecule instead of the two are in oxygen. Ozone air purifiers create ozone which, when generated, it seeps into cracks, carpets, curtains, furniture and under beds where currents normal air often lacking. When the extra oxygen atom of the molecule are separated, broke the disinfecting power. These single oxygen atoms quickly destroy bacteria, mold and mildew. Laboratory tests have shown that ozone kills the bacteria E. coli more than 3,000 times faster than chlorine, very popular and widely disinfectant used. Due to its characteristics and how the ozone layer, air purifiers ozone layer are ideal for removing odors caused by fire and flood damage. Ozone purifiers are so effective is that the major hotel chains used to convert smokers to nonsmokers. Remember though, that bothers to the ozone layer of human lung function. Ozone air purifiers are primarily used to disinfect while humans are not present.

When choosing an air filter, take into account what their biggest concern with air quality. Is the odor and bacteria from their pets? Is it the pollen or mold? Or is that to release air from secondhand smoke. Deciding which type of pollutant is their biggest concern is the first step in choosing the type of air purifier.
