Air Sanitizer
With the onset of the pandemic of H1N1 and ordinary flu season in the bay, it is not surprising that sales of hand sanitizer are increasing. Alcohol based hand sanitizers to kill harmful bacteria such as streptococcus, salmonella, staph, E. coli and Shigella. Hand sanitizers physically destroy germs however, these products do not claim to kill viruses.
While hand sanitizers can be useful when soap and water not available, are key elements that make them effective. For a hand sanitizer to be effective, must contain at least 63% ethyl alcohol, any percent less it will not be effective in killing germs. Unfortunately, there are hand sanitizers on the market with an alcohol content of 40% which will have no effect when the disinfection of hands. Always Check the label for alcohol concentration if the purchase of a hand sanitizer alcohol base.
On the other some, like proper hand washing hand sanitizer should be applied to the top, bottom, sides, into the toes and fingers. Rub vigorously enough clean to ensure that moisture and keep rubbing until they appear dry. If this sensation occurs in 15 seconds then dry them you did not use clean enough.
Lately it has also been a problem in schools on the flammability of alcohol disinfectant hand and possible misuse can pose as an intoxicant. Thus, based hand sanitizers alcohol are banned in schools. As an alternative to these alcohol-based disinfectants, a chemical called benzalkonium chloride is used instead of alcohol.
If you are an environmentalist like me, I have a problem with the release of all those plastic bottles in the trash. I also have a problem with chemicals contained in them and that they are getting a little expensive! How about a more natural remedy to disinfect hands and without adverse on the environment!
Here's the recipe!
2 pieces of aloe gel (juice NO)
1 part distilled water (not tap)
1 part ethyl-alcohol (like vodka) (isopropyl)
4-5 drops of tea tree oil – a great essential oil antibacterial
Lavender oil or oil other fragrance to your liking, it also combines well with mixes well with lemon, eucalyptus, clove, cinnamon and orange to name a few.
Although this does not can have a concentration of 63% alcohol, essential oil of tea tree oil has antiseptic, antibiotics, antivirals and other wonderful properties to protect from germs.
