What is the best technology to clean the air in a house?

We're buying an old house, and while we are having the duct work and central unit clean, I wanted to attach an air purifier whole house with it. UV Lights HEPA-electrostatic combinations – my head is spinning! Need someone who really knows these things I tell the truth. Help!
