honeywell hepa air purifiers
Can it be washed and reused air purifier filters?
I have a Honeywell air purifier. I washed the carbon pre-filter and HEPA filter inside. I just read that although not supposed to reuse these. Can anyone tell me why? Seems to be still usable.
Adding water to bacteria, mold, mildew and other organic matter that has been trapped in the filters will grow extremely fast. No way to kill 100% of living matter in the filter. When it begins to multiply, it will clog the filter or air filtration system will blow back into your home. Not always reuse style HEPA filters. There are much better air purification systems available syle HEPA filtration machines. The best are "active" purifiers syle vs. the "passive". Active units can purify the air in a home, even when it passes through the unit. Passive units only treat the air that really enters and passes through their filters or more of the plates. I recommend purifying the active style.
